St. Plato

Feastday: April 4
Death: 813

Greek monk and abbot. He served as abbot of several monasteries, including one on Mount Olympus and another near Constantinople after refusing a bishopric. His opposition to the divorce and subsequent remarriage of Byzantine Emperor Constantine VI led to many sufferings, including imprisonment. Emperor Nicephorus exiled him to an island in the Bosporus for four years. He was bedridden as a result.
