Statement of Condolence by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije

Заявление соболезнования Сербского Патриарха Порфирия
His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Mr.. Porfirje sent a letter of condolence to His Beatitude Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, Msgr. Stefan on the occasion of the blessed passing of Metropolitan Timothy of Debar-Kichevsk, which states:

Your Beatitude, our dear brother and coworker in Christ!

It is with deep regret that we received the news of the passing of Metropolitan Timothy of Debar-Kichev, with whom we served the Holy Liturgy at the Junis Monastery a little over a month ago. Of blessed memory, Bishop Timofey, as a faithful witness of Christ, longed for unity and when the fullness of time came, inspired by the Holy Spirit, contributed decisively to the establishment of the broken unity of the Church by personally serving the Divine Liturgy, meeting and cooperating with us and our brother bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church healed the wounds resulting from decades of division. This is how he gained great respect among the clergy and faithful people of the Peć Patriarchate. Briefly and precisely, we saw in Bishop Timotej our closest brother in Christ.

Therefore be assured, Blessed One, that we will take care to prayerfully preserve the memory of the unforgettable Metropolitan Timothy as our elder brother and sincere friend, who did not hesitate to defend Us beyond courtesies, with sincere brotherly love. We ask you, Our dear brother and coworker in Christ, on the occasion of the passing of the great saint and shepherd, Blessed Metropolitan Timothy, to accept the expressions of Our most sincere condolences, but also to convey them to the entire body of the Macedonian Orthodox. Church. We pray to the Risen Lord that his righteous soul may dwell in the heavenly village, where the favorites of God are eternally blessed!

With love in Christ the Lord.

AEM and Serbian Patriarch
