XXV Olympiad of Orthodox Religious Knowledge

XXV Олимпиада православных религиозных знаний
On March 14-15, 2024, the Center for Orthodox Culture in Bialystok hosted the central qualifying rounds of the XXV All-Russian Olympiad of Orthodox Religious Studies, the theme of which was "One Hundred Years of Autocephaly of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church - Historical and Canonical Sketch". More than one hundred students from the following provinces: Lubelskie, Mazowieckie, Podlaskie, Podkarpackie and Silesian provinces registered for this year's participation. Thirty-five students representing high schools from Bialystok, Biala Podlaska, Bielsk Podlaski, Bilgoraj, Częstochowa, Hajnówka, Lublin, Przczała Wola, Rzeszów and Warsaw qualified for the third qualifying round.


His Eminence Metropolitan Sava of Warsaw and All Poland delivered a commemorative speech in which he emphasized that the Olympic Games are a very important moment in the calendar year of the life of the Orthodox Church in Poland. The jubilee edition is of special significance because it is timed to coincide with the centenary of the granting of autocephaly. His Eminence expressed his joy at the great interest shown by the youth of many parishes from all over Poland.


The third stage of the Olympiad consisted of a written test and an oral presentation. The members of the committee, chaired by Archbishop Grzegorz of Bielsk, were: Fr. Ph. Marek Lavreszuk, Prof. UWB, priest Dr. Andrzej Kuzma, Abbot Dr. Panteleymon (Karczewski), priest. Dr. Andrzej Konachowicz, Magister Barbara Uscinowicz. The proper conduct of the Olympiad was supervised by: the acting director of the Catechetical Department of the Diocese of Białystok-Gdansk and the secretary of the Olympiad, Fr. Mirosław Filimoniuk, Master of Arts, and Mirosława Petkiewicz, Master of Arts, Methodological Advisor of MODM in Białystok and representative of the Olympic Games.

Since 2007 the Olympiad has been accredited by the Ministry of National Education.
