An evening of East Slavic carols in Lublin

For many years now, the city of Lublin has continued the tradition of singing East Slavic carols in January at the initiative of the Lublin-Chelm Orthodox Diocese. On Thursday, January 25, at 6 p.m. in the Philharmonic Hall. Another evening of East Slavic Christmas carols was held at Henryk Wieniawski University in Lublin. Despite a four-year hiatus due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Lublin Philharmonic was packed with listeners that evening, with several dozen people taking standing room.


All guests, led by the Ordinariate of the Lublin-Chelm Diocese, were welcomed by the concert host Urszula Garbacz, chairman of the Local Circle of the Brotherhood of St. Cyril and Methodius in Lublin and Radoslaw Fronczek.


At this year's East Slavonic Carols Evening in Lublin, six choirs performed:

The choir of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Lublin under the direction of Rector Andrzej Bublai;

Children's choir of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Lublin under the direction of Paulina Wojtal;

Choir of the parish of the Assumption of the Mother of God in Bielsk Podlaski under the direction of Anna Litwinchuk;

Ensemble of Orthodox Church Music under the direction of Tatiana Kotlyarova;


Choir of nuns of the Pokrovsky Monastery in Turkovitsy under the direction of nun Eufalya (Zolotareva);

Choir of Orthodox clergy Lublin-Chelm Diocese under the direction of Deacon Jan Natyazhko.

At the end of the Evening of East Slavonic Carols, at the initiative of the organizers, all choirs and the large audience together performed the famous carol "Heaven and Earth - Today in Bethlehem" under the direction of Andrzej Bublai in two language versions.

The Lublin Christmas concert was initiated by the Diocese of Lublin-Chelm and organized by the Local Circle of the Brotherhood of St. Cyril and Methodius in Lublin together with the Orthodox Cathedral. Transfiguration of the Lord in Lublin.

After the concert all participants of the Lublin caroling were invited by the organizers to a symbolic meal in the hall of the Lublin Philharmonic Society.
