In Volgodonsk, Rostov region, an interregional congress «Mercy Movement — life as a ministry in the XXI century: challenges, meanings, resources» was held. The organizers of the congress — Volgodonsk diocese, the Ministry of Health of the Rostov region, regional public environmental organization «Green City», Fund «Co-working», regional public organization «Association of Secondary Medical Workers».

The congress gathered participants from various regions of Russia, including Moscow, Kaliningrad, Yaroslavl and Rostov regions, as well as the conflict zone. The participants discussed current issues of hospital and volunteer ministries, palliative care, nursing care, and assistance to victims of the conflict zone and the wounded. Director and chief physician Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow, Alexei Zarov shared his experience in developing mercy sororities through training in professional programs to care for the seriously ill. Since 2019, the Saint Alexis Hospital Training Center has been training nursing assistants in Moscow and the regions.

Over the past year and a half, five Sisterhoods of Charity have been established in different cities of the Volgodonsk Diocese. In the course of the congress, Julia Tovstaya, head of the St. Luke's branch of St. Alexis Hospital, head sister of the Pereslavl diocesan Sisterhood of Mercy, told about the ministry of the Sisterhood in Pereslavl-Zalessky.
