On May 17, 2024 in Kamensky District, Rostov Region, the Church Center for Assistance to Families with Children with Disabilities «Berega» began its work. It was opened in the suburb of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh of Staraya Stanitsa farmstead in the park «Loga» within the framework of the social project Shakhtinsk diocese «City of Angels».

The project is implemented by ANO «Integrated Center for Social Initiatives named after Saint Righteous John of Kronstadt», the founder of which is the Shakhta Diocese represented by Bishop Simon of Shakhta and Millerovo. The project is headed by the director of this organization, the rector of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh of Staraya Stanitsa farmstead and the Pokrovsky Church of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Priest Vladislav Kasyanov. The center has already received the first ten families with children for rehabilitation, among them five families from Donbass.
«In the Shakhta Diocese, the project to help families raising children with disabilities and children with disabilities has been implemented for several years in a row and has become a systemic activity, which is successfully implemented at the Pyatnitsky Archbishop's Ward in the village of Manychskaya in the Bagayevsky district (head — Archpriest Alexander Malikov) and at the Church of the Protection of the Mother of God of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky. And today we opened in the Kamensk district in the suburb of the church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh the Center for Assistance to Families with Children with Disabilities called "Berega", — said Priest Vladislav Kasyanov. — A separate building, which provides rooms for classes, doctors, other specialists and round-the-clock stay of moms with children, built a businessman and philanthropist, the cotirer of the temple Sergei Kushnarenko. With the help of two parishes and kind people we purchased and installed the necessary equipment and furniture. But the main thing — organized the work of the center so that children and parents could receive medical, psychological and spiritual help, and in fact joined the program of comprehensive support. For this purpose, experienced high-class specialists — doctors, educational psychologists, social pedagogues, speech pathologists and representatives of the clergy» have been involved in the project.

The day before, five families from Donbass came to the center at the request of the Synodal Department for Charity. The department appealed to the organizers of the project with a request to include these families with children in the rehabilitation program and provide them with the help they need today. The guests will live in Center for a week. Also five more families with special children from different settlements of the district came to the center at the invitation of Father Vladislav and with the support of the Kamensky district administration.
All ten families have already received consultations with specialists from one of the best regional specialized social institutions — the Center for Complex Rehabilitation and Habilitation for Children and Teenagers.

Based on the recommendations of the specialists of the mobile team, an individual rehabilitation program will be drawn up for each child. During the week, children and parents will take classes with teachers and psychologists, some of which will be held in a specially equipped sensory room. They will also rest and walk in the park «Loga», will be able to take part in the Sunday Liturgy.
