On March 4, 2024, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation held a round table "State-religious interaction in the period of the NWO: topical issues, problems, challenges". The participants of the event discussed the prospects of relations between traditional confessions of Russia and state institutions, current goals and tasks, as well as identifying ways to address them, reports Patriarchy.ru.
The event was organized by the Public Chamber Commission on Interethnic, Interreligious Relations and Migration, the Synodal Department for Relations between the Church and Society and the Media and the Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedom. The moderators were V.Y. Zorin, Chairman of the Public Chamber Commission on Interethnic, Interreligious Relations and Migration, and S.A. Melnikov, Chairman of the Russian Association for the Defense of Religious Freedom.
V.Y. Zorin in his report reminded the audience of the recent speech of the President of Russia V.V. Putin with a message to the Federal Government. Lebedev, Head of the Department for Work with State Structures of the Synodal Department for Relations between the Church and Society and the Media, read out a greeting from the Chairman of the Department, V.R. Legoyda. In particular, the address pointed out that state-religious interaction has always been one of the factors of stability in Russia, and in modern conditions its importance is multiplied.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society, Public and Religious Associations O.V. Timofeeva spoke about the current interaction between the legislature and religious associations both in the course of the SWO and in the course of the protection of traditional moral values in the legal field.
The Executive Secretary of the Interreligious Council of Russia, Priest Ilia Kashitsyn, spoke about the recent joint statement of religious leaders of Russia, adopted during the Council's work, on support for the actions of the Russian army in the Russian Federation. the zone of the NWO. The head of the Legal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate, Abbess Xenia (Chernega), drew attention in her speech to the many unresolved problems related to the status of military priests in the NWO zone, as well as to the initiatives of His Holiness the Patriarch to resolve them.
Deputy Head of the Central Spiritual Directorate of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia Dashi-Nimi Vladimirovich Sodnomdorzhiev told the round table participants about the activities of Buddhist clergy in the NWO zone, about the work of Buddhist volunteer stations, as well as about the problems with granting legal status to Buddhist clergy traveling to the NWO zone.
A.S. Gasparyan, Deputy Chairman of the RF OP Commission on Culture and Preservation of Spiritual Heritage, urged the audience to raise the topic of the ministry of Orthodox priests in the SSO zone more often, as well as the extremely difficult situation of the clergy of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
T.S. Fedotov, deputy head of the working apparatus of the Human Rights Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, spoke about the work of the apparatus with appeals on the topic of the NWO, of which In 2023 alone, about 30,000 were sent. All of them were related to the search for missing persons, return from captivity and the fate of the bodies of fallen soldiers.
Chairman of the Moscow religious organization of Muslims "Heritage of Islam" M.M. Bagdalov drew the attention of the event participants to the fact that the ideological confrontation between Russia and its adversaries will only increase, and the main task that Russia's traditional confessions should contribute to solving is to preserve the stability of Russian society in critical situations.
A.Y. Polunov, Head of the Department of Management in the sphere of interethnic and interfaith relations at the Faculty of Public Administration of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. In his report, Polunov emphasized the need for close cooperation between Russian academic institutions and their colleagues from the DNR, LNR, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. The speaker noted that the Russian state and society are currently not doing enough to counter destructive ideas during the "battle for minds".
The round table also raised the topic of concrete work of representatives of traditional confessions in the NWO zone. T.V. Tsareva, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Head of the Editorial and Publishing Department of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told the participants events on the role of the Russian Orthodox Church in organizing social and other assistance to the Russian Armed Forces and the civilian population during the period of the SSE. In turn, the pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church I.I. Kirichenko made a report on the humanitarian ministry of the Adventist Church in Donbass.
The round table was attended by members of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on interethnic, interreligious relations and migration, members of the Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedom, representatives of traditional religions of Russia, representatives of federal and city authorities, scientific community, public organizations. On the part of the Russian Orthodox Church, the meeting was also attended by M.S.
