On May 6, 2024, the feast day of the Martyr Queen Alexandra of Rome, the first Russian church built in the Holy Land on the territory of the Russian suburbs in Jerusalem, the house church of the Russian Theological Mission, is celebrated.
On the feast day, the head of the Russian Theological Mission in Jerusalem archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev) and the mission's clergy celebrated the Divine Liturgy, at the end of which a tribute was recited, according to the RTM website.
The church in honor of the Martyr Queen Alexandra, located in the courtyard of the mission building, was consecrated in 1864 by Patriarch Cyril II of Jerusalem. The church was named in honor of the martyr Queen Alexandra of Rome, who suffered for Christ in 314. This saint is the heavenly patroness of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, wife of Russian Emperor Nicholas I.
