With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass, the first nursing courses for nurses of mercy and volunteers were held in Chelyabinsk as part of the patronage ministry, reports Patriarchy.ru.
The course was organized by the Training Center of the Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow, with the support of the Social Department of the Chelyabinsk Diocese. The classes were conducted by Natalia Seletskaya, a teacher of the Training Center of St. Alexis Hospital, a sister of mercy. The course was attended by 11 representatives of the Chelyabinsk Diocese - sisters of mercy and volunteers.
"We are inspired when nursing courses meet such a lively response, as it happened in the Chelyabinsk diocese. The well-being and condition of the sick directly depends on the professional knowledge and skills of the nursing sister. Now after the training the nurses of mercy will be able to provide professional care for patients of medical institutions of Chelyabinsk", - said the head of the Training Center Olga Bazhenova.
The training took place on the basis of the medical college of the South Ural State Medical University. The training program included the basics and peculiarities of care for bedridden patients: performing general care procedures, infection safety, first aid, as well as solving the The principles of safe movement, proper nutrition and prevention of pressure sores.
At the end of the training, the nurses of mercy and volunteers passed an exam on the theoretical and practical parts. In the near future, they will receive state certificates for the qualification "Junior Nursing Assistant".
Today there are more than 900 Sisterhoods of Mercy operating in Russia and other countries. Sisters of Mercy provide care for seriously ill people in medical and social institutions and at home. Sisterhoods create houses of mercy and almshouses - centers of round-the-clock care for seriously ill people. Today there are more than 50 such institutions in the Church.
