On Sunday, March 10, 2024, the central Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene in the capital's Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Savva. The archpastor was assisted by Bishop Varsonofiusz of Semyatynets and the local clergy. During the liturgy His Eminence was awarded Fr. Archpriest Anatoliy Szydłowski and priest Mitrat Jerzy Dororszkiewicz with the second priestly cross and Fr. Fr. Mirosław Lewczaku the right to wear the mitre.
Addressing the assembled faithful, Metropolitan Savva mentioned the beginning of the jubilee year of the centenary of the centenary of the independence of the Orthodox Church in Poland, emphasizing its beginning in the activity of St... St. Cyril and Methodius, who Christianized the territories of modern southern Poland. Despite difficulties and various problems throughout the centuries, Orthodoxy in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth lives on, bearing witness to the faith in Christ. The hierarch paid much attention to the explanation of the term autocephaly, which represents the administrative structure of the Church in the emerging independent state. The merits of the blessed memory of Metropolitans George and Dionysius in the process of acquiring the status of an independent Church were emphasized, and the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland over the anniversary year was noted.
Addressing the clerics of the Warsaw Cathedral, awarded by the Archdiocesan His Eminence noted the merits of the priests in church worship. Metropolitan Savva wished the clergy strength and perseverance in their future ministry, constant rallying of the faithful in unity around Christ, firm and unwavering faith visible in action. His Eminence called on the faithful to be more active in church life and to cherish the heritage and fidelity to the Orthodox Church.
The celebrations in the cathedral ended with rare wishes and singing of long and fruitful years of life.
