On January 26, 2024, the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate will host a section of the XXXII International Christmas Educational Readings, dedicated to the theme "The care of the Church for mentally ill people: emotional disorders in the practice of the pastor, psychiatrist and psychologist". Metropolitan Sergius of Voronezh and Liskinsky will head the sectional meeting and make an introductory report. M.B. Nelyubova, an employee of the Russian Orthodox Church, will curate the section. Experts in the field of psychiatry, practicing physicians, scientists, psychologists, and Orthodox clergy with experience in caring for the mentally ill are invited to join the discussion. Among the announced topics of discussion are the spiritual and moral component of rehabilitation after severe psychotraumas, psychoemotional disorders in psychiatric practice, the understanding of religious experience by the individual in norm and pathology, pastoral care in psychoemotional disorders, resources of pastoral care in dealing with pathological states of resentment and personal dissatisfaction with life, depression of childhood and adolescence, depression and prayer, as well as other issues.
