On December 26, 2023, in the Patriarchal Hall of the Cathedral Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia chaired a joint meeting of the Holy Synod and the Supreme Church Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, according to Patriarchy.ru.
.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church addressed the audience with a welcoming speech:
"I cordially greet all of you, dear lords, fathers and brothers, at our last meeting of the year. And, according to tradition, today we have, in the synodal language of the beginning of the last century, the combined presence of the two most important institutions of the Russian Church - the Holy Synod and the Supreme Church Council.
We hold this meeting at the end of the year, which gives us an opportunity to listen to both members of the Holy Synod and the Supreme Church Council in order to get an overall picture of what the past year was like, to talk about our work, about the achievements and, perhaps, the problems that remain from this year and are moving into the future. Today is an important meeting, and I wish all of us, by the grace of God, success in these labors."
The meeting is attended by permanent and temporary members of the Holy Synod, members of the Supreme Church Council, as well as a number of invited members of the Moscow Patriarchate and synodal institutions.
