Spouse of Indian Foreign Minister visits Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow

On December 25, 2023, the wife of the Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, Mrs. K. K., visited the Cathedral Church of Christ the Savior in Moscow. С. Jaishankar, accompanied by Mrs. A. Sharma, President of the Association of Indian Women in Russia, wife of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Russian Federation, and Mrs. A.V. Galovich, Secretary for Social Affairs of the Indian Embassy. With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, the distinguished guest was welcomed by Hierodeacon Peter (Akhmatkhanov) of the Department for External Church Relations. As part of the tour of the cathedral, Father Peter spoke about the contemporary life of the Moscow Patriarchate, including the history of the relationship between the Russian Church and the Christians of India. Mrs. Jaishankar also familiarized herself with the activities of the Working Group for the coordination of bilateral relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Malankara Church of India. The agreement to set up the Working Group was reached at the meeting between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and Catholicos of the Malankara Church Basil Mar Thomas Paul II held on September 3, 2019.
