The relics of the enlightener of Altai, the Monk Macarius of Altai (Glukharev; †1847) were found on February 24, 2024 in the tomb of the Trinity Nativity of the Mother of God Optina Nunnery in Bolkhov, Orel region, where the Monk was the abbot in the last years of his life. On May 25, the reliquary with the relics of St. Macarius was solemnly handed over to a delegation from the Altai Metropolis. On its way to Barnaul, the shrine visited the Vladimir Metropolis, the capital of Tatarstan, Chelyabinsk, Tobolsk, Ishim and Omsk dioceses. Thousands of believers were able to worship the great missionary, shepherd and translator of the Holy Scriptures, as was the Venerable Macarius of Altai.
