As part of the series of historical documentaries "Holy Warriors of the Fatherland" the premiere of the historical and publicistic film "St. Prince Daniel of Moscow and his monastery" took place, Patriarchy.ru reports. The film is dedicated to the return to the bosom of the Church of the Danilov Monastery (May 17, 1983), - the first monastery "on Moscow", which has always remained the spiritual center of our Fatherland and repeatedly met the invasions of enemies - as well as the figure of its founder, Prince of Moscow XIII century Daniel Alexandrovich, who earned the epithets "patron saint of Moscow" and "Prince of Peace".
Work on the movie was carried out for almost two years. Initially, the filmmakers of "Park Patriot Media" had the task to shoot a material timed to the 40th anniversary of the return of the Danilov Monastery to the bosom of the Church and the resumption of monastic service. But as they studied historical documents and immersed themselves in the history of the Russian world, the image of Prince Daniel of Moscow, who to this day is still in the shadow of his great ancestors and descendants, came to the fore.
The authors of the film discovered amazing parallels between the history of the gathering and preservation of the Russian world by Prince Daniel Alexandrovich, as well as his descendants during the difficult time of Mongol rule, and the struggle of today's Russia for the return of the lands inhabited by tribesmen and by his co-religionists. The creators of the tape wanted to show the viewer the greatness of thoughts and depth of wisdom of the first prince of Moscow, combined with his meekness and peacemaking.
The tape included scenes of costume reconstructions, which showed the forces that nourished Daniel of Moscow. The Holy Prince laid the principles of building the state of Russia, - it is Orthodoxy, peacefulness, care for the people, firmly behind the interests of the state.
The history of the monastery from the depths of centuries to the present day is also reflected in the movie. The abode was the first in Moscow, remained the center of the Orthodox faith during the Bolshevik persecutions, and later became the center of the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia. In October 1993, when there was a high probability of civil war in Russia, negotiations between the opposing sides took place within the walls of the monastery.
The creators of the movie discovered and tried to show the viewer the deep patriotism, selfless service to God and Russia, fortitude and passionarity of modern monasticism, carrying out its missionary service in such a metropolis as Moscow.
The film includes fragments of speeches by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, who exhaustively and accurately characterized the personality and merits of the first prince of Moscow - the Holy Blessed Prince of Moscow The words of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church. The words of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church are heard at the turning points of the tape, summarizing the plot lines.
