Serbian Church: Banning the dinar in Kosovo will lead to ethnic cleansing

Сербская Церковь: Запрет динара в Косово приведет к этнической чистке
The Kosovo Albanian leadership has come up with yet another effective way to literally evaporate the remnants of the Serbian population from the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. This time they decided to completely ban the Serbian dinar and its use as currency in the region. The Serbian Church has made a desperate protest against what is happening. A special announcement was once again made by the Raško-Prizren Diocese: "Due to the intention of the Kosovo institutions to ban the use of the dinar and payments in dinars in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, contrary to numerous international recommendations and the strong opposition of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, the Diocese of Raško-Prizren protests this decision and appeals to the international institutions to stop Pristina in the complete ethnic cleansing of Kosovo and Metohija. The decision of Kosovo institutions to ban the dinar will negatively affect not only the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, but also other minority communities that use the dinar, and will completely block the normal life of Serbian communities. The ban on the dinar will hinder the payment of salaries, pensions, social benefits, donations, scholarships, block humanitarian work on which the most socially disadvantaged depend, make it difficult for the Serbian communities to pay their salaries, pensions, social benefits, donations and scholarships, make it difficult for them to pay their salaries, pensions, social benefits, donations and scholarships. The normal funding of medical and school facilities, on which the life of Serb-inhabited areas depends, would be impossible. The Serbian Orthodox Church will also be severely affected. Unfortunately, Kosovo institutions have not only prevented the return of our exiles to their homes, but have also actively encouraged further Serb emigration through police repression, selective application of laws, forcible appropriation of Serbian spiritual and cultural heritage, and denial of Serbian identity and the right to life. Under these circumstances, it can be said quite clearly that there is an open process of ethnic cleansing of the remaining Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, which is being carried out through institutional and police methods. If this repressive measure of Pristina is realized, Kosovo will practically become an ethnically pure Albanian territory, although at present more and more Kosovo Albanians are leaving it, not because of ethnic repression, but because of the disastrous economic situation, lack of conditions for a normal life for young people, corruption and autocratic methods of the authorities. The aggravation of the existing crisis by new provocations will inevitably lead to further aggravation of inter-ethnic relations and completely block any further dialog. Kosovo Serbs have been imposed the role of hostages, treated by Pristina as second-class citizens and outright undesirables. This is probably done in the hope that Belgrade will make political concessions under such blackmail. We are deeply concerned that such logic will not only fail to solve the problems, but will further complicate them, and that is why we are appealing to international representatives, given that our Church is being completely ignored and openly persecuted by the Kosovo authorities, to stop further escalation, which could jeopardize the entire Balkans and, by extension, Europe. Policies of humiliation, ethnic repression, selective application of laws, police methods of coercion and intimidation have never and nowhere resulted in a stable society, but a society based on such foundations finds itself economically and politically isolated with increasing negative demographic trends. Our Church has shared with our faithful people all hardships throughout history, remaining and surviving in its centuries-old expanse, never abandoning its willingness to live in Kosovo and Metohija in peace and mutual respect with all people who have a home here, regardless of their religion and ethnicity. Origins. We remain deeply committed to this evangelical principle, but at the same time, while enduring numerous injustices against the Serbian Orthodox Church and our people, in full view of the international representatives of the West, we cannot remain silent about the institutional repression that is gaining momentum and whose goal is the complete expulsion of the Serbian people from these territories and the erasure of the centuries-old history of the Serbs and the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo and Metohija, where our people have made great historical, cultural and civilizational contributions."
