On September 12, 2024, at a meeting of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Macedonian Orthodox Church — Ohrid Archdiocese a number of issues and events related to church life were considered, informs the portal Liturgija.mk.
The Synod paid special attention to the situation of the sister Ukrainian Orthodox Church in connection with the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of a law providing for the prohibition of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which, as a report on the meeting notes, deprives «millions of believers who attend the temples of this Church of their fundamental rights of religious affiliation, practice of their faith and worship».
«The Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church — of the Archdiocese of Ohrid, bearing witness to the Gospel truth, expresses its prayerful support to His Beatitude the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Mr. Onufryi, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, fellow archpastors and her faithful people, praying to the All-Merciful Lord to give them the strength to withstand and overcome these trials», — emphasized in the publication.
