The 49th meeting of the World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots (WCC) was held in Moscow on June 18-19, 2024. The event brought together compatriots, members of the Council, representatives of the Government Commission for Compatriots Abroad, and invited guests.
The solemn opening of the meeting was attended by the Chairman of the CCS M.V. Drozdov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation M.Y. Galuzin, Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) E.A. Primakov, Director of the Department for Work with Compatriots Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia G.A. Ovechko, Director of the House of Russian Abroad named after A.I. Solzhenitsyn, Director of the Russian Compatriots Abroad. A.I. Solzhenitsyn V.A. Moskvin, Executive Director of the Fund for Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad A.I. Udaltsov, Director of the Institute of Russian Abroad S.Y. Panteleev, Director of the Moscow House of Compatriots D.Y. Kozhayev.
At the invitation of the organizers and with the blessing of the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk in the Hieromonk Kirill (Peregudin), an employee of the Secretariat for Overseas Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church, took part in the meeting. After conveying the blessing of Vladyka Anthony to the participants of the meeting, Hieromonk Kirill spoke about the participation of the OECS in coordinating the work of all interested church and state structures involved in supporting compatriots abroad, and also shared plans for upcoming events.
In the course of the meeting, the participants discussed the preparation for the VIII World Congress of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad, the results of regional conferences of compatriots, as well as plans to hold events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
