A round table «Mechanisms of effective interaction between Moscow and Russian compatriots living abroad» was held in Alma-Ata on November 20, 2024, attended by representatives of diplomatic and public organizations of Kazakhstan and Russia.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Archpriest Alexander Suvorov, head of the public relations department of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District and clergyman of the Ascension Cathedral of the Southern Capital, took part in the meeting.

In his welcoming speech Archpriest Alexander Suvorov conveyed the blessing of the head of the Kazakh Metropolitan District, noted the importance of strengthening spiritual ties between compatriots, and also emphasized the importance of preserving the Kazakh cultural heritage and the development of inter-confessional dialogue.

The round table was addressed by the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Almaty D.A. Turaev, Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow I.P. Tkach, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Duma S.V. Orlov.

The participants of the meeting discussed the topics, related to the prospects of interaction between organizations of Russian compatriots and the Government of Moscow, the work of Cossack and youth associations, as well as the role of the Orthodox Church in strengthening intercultural and interethnic dialogue.

The event ended with a discussion in the format «question-and-answer» where those present discussed further steps to strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
