On July 14-15, 2024, the feast of the Icon of the Mother of God was solemnly celebrated at the Turkovice Monastery. The two-day ceremony was led by Archbishop Abel of Lublin and Chelm, assisted by Archbishop Paisiusz of Przemysl and Gorlice and a large group of clergy, mostly from the Diocese of Lublin and Chelm. During the services, the choir of clergy from the local diocese sang under the direction of Deacon Ivan Natyazhko. The Christmas sermon during the main St. Liturgy was delivered by Archbishop Paisiusz, who touched upon the spiritual condition of modern man, as well as historical topics concerning the revival of the Turkowice Monastery.
During the feast, many organized groups of pilgrims gathered in Turkovice, once again supporting the local monastery with their presence, prayer and sacrifice. They came, among others, from Bialystok, Lublin, Bielsk Podlaska, Biala Podlaska and Bilgoraj.
A great contribution to the organization of the holiday was made by the youth associated with the Orthodox Youth Fellowship of the Lublin-Chelm Diocese, who participated in the labor camp from July 11 to 16. The help of enthusiastic young people was needed in cleaning and preparing food for the pilgrims.
At the end of the ceremony, Archbishop Abel spoke and thanked everyone for their participation in this very important event for Chelmskija feast. The saint expressed his gratitude to Archbishop Paisiusz, the pilgrims and the many clergy for coming. Archbishop Paisiusz expressed his gratitude, thanking the Ordinariate of the Diocese of Lublin-Chelm for his great contribution to the revitalization of monastic life and the entire diocese during the 35 years of its existence.
Then the sisters of the Pokrovsky Monastery in Turkovice invited all the participants of the feast to share a treat.
