On July 12-13, the Orthodox parish of Sts. App. Peter and Paul in Elka held Christmas celebrations dedicated to the patrons of the church. This year's events had a special character for the Elka Orthodox community, as three important anniversaries coincided: the 100th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Poland, the 65th anniversary of the consecration of the present church, and the 20th anniversary of the Local Orthodox Church. The Circle of the Brotherhood of St. Brothers Cyril and Methodius are active in the parish in Elka.


The celebration of the feast began with an all-night vigil presided over by Fr. Fr. Mateusz Kiczko, Vicar General of the Orthodox Parish of the Resurrection in Bialystok, assisted by the local parish priest. During the service, the choir under the direction of Rector Dawid Jakubowski sang.

Beginning early Saturday morning, large numbers of pilgrims began arriving in Elk. Many organized pilgrimages took place, including: the pilgrimage of the Brotherhood of the Three Saints from Bialystok, the pilgrimage of the Brotherhood of St. Athanasi Brzeski from Bialystok and the largest pilgrimage from the parish of the Resurrection of the Lord in Bialystok. The Holy Liturgy was led by His Excellency Most Reverend Andrzej, Bishop of Suprasl, assisted by a large number of clergy. Before the service began, the parish priest Fr. Rafal Laszczuk, emphasizing the connection of between the events that accompanied the Orthodox Church in Poland after receiving autocephaly and after the establishment of the Orthodox parish in Elka.


The celebrations were attended by representatives of local government and activists of Elk: the Mayor of Elk Tomasz Anrukiewicz, the Mayor of Elk district Marek Chojnowski, the Councillor of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship Assembly Bogusław Wisowaty, the director of the elementary school No. 3, named after Henryk Sienkiewicz in Elk Joanna Beata Sokolowska, the owner of the company "Fala" in Elk Maciej Olszewski.


The event was attended by representatives of the local government and activists of Elk.
During St. John's Liturgy the choir sang under the direction of Iwona Anna Randhawa, conductor of the Orthodox parish of the Resurrection of the Lord in Bialystok. During the liturgy prayers were offered for the souls of all the deceased who suffered in the resettlement actions, as well as for the former acting rector of the Elk parish, the late. priest Mitrat Jan Kulik.


After the Liturgy, a solemn procession was held around the church, during which the bell tower was solemnly consecrated, where the renovation of the facade and interior was recently completed, and a staircase was added.

At the end of the ceremony, Andrzej, Bishop of Suprasl, spoke, emphasizing the importance of the anniversaries being celebrated, as well as highlighting the amount of repair and construction work being done in the parish. In connection with On the 20th anniversary of the existence of the Local Circle of the Brotherhood in Ełk, the Order of the Holy Brothers of Solunskie was awarded to people who contributed to the activities of the Brotherhood and the parish community: parish priest Fr. Rafał Laszczuk, mother Paulina Laszczuk, councillor of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship Assembly - Bogusław Wisowaty and the owner of the company 'Fala' in Ełk - Maciej Olszewski.

The Order of the Holy Brothers of Solunskie was awarded to people who contributed to the activities of the Brotherhood and the parish community.
