On February 8, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church celebrated the Feast of St. Vardanants. On this occasion, under the presidency of H.E. Harekin, the Second Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, the Mother See, participated in the sacred rite of the Liturgy at St. Gayane Monastery.
The celebrant was the Inspector of the Gevorgyan Theological Seminary and Director of the Interchurch Relations Department of the Mother See. His Eminence Ananyan.
The sacred ceremony was attended by the leaders of the Diocese, members of the Mother See and many faithful Armenians.
In his homily, the Holy Father referred to the advice of the Feast of St. Vardananz, specifically stating: "Beloved, the mention of Vardanants is more than relevant today because we have been in a spiritual, educational, intellectual and military struggle for the past few years.
And this struggle seems to be leading us not to victory, but only to defeats. However, this is where the counsel of the VARDANANTS comes in to tell us that if our army leader is Jesus, then our army is the most enlightened and the most innocent in the darkness. We can crown any struggle with success if our eyes are fixed on the leader of our faith."
Fr. Shahe also, on behalf of the flock and all the faithful present, congratulated His Holiness the Patriarch on his name day.
After At the end of the Holy Liturgy, the Director of the Department of External Relations and Ceremonies of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Eminence Fr. Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, the Patriarch's wish was fulfilled.
The clergy and faithful offered prayers to God for the perseverance and enlightenment of the Catholicosate of All Armenians, for the rich life and fruitful pontificate of His Holiness.
