The Government of the Russian Federation has formed an organizational committee to prepare for the celebration of the 600th anniversary of the founding of the first monastic settlement on the Solovetsky Archipelago. The order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The organizing committee includes Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Alexander Tsybulsky and his deputy, Chairman of the regional government Alexei Alsufiev, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Vicar of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Solovetsky Stavropigial Monastery Bishop Porfiry of Ozersk, as well as other figures, representatives of departments and regions.
In October, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree in which he instructed to organize the 600th anniversary of the foundation of the first monastic settlement on the Solovetsky archipelago in 2029. Regions were recommended to take part in the preparation and holding of the celebration.
