Visiting our parishes in the Iskenderun region on the occasion of the first annual earthquake memorial

His Grace Bishop Arsanius Dahdal, Bishop of Hierapolis and Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop, led the Divine Liturgy at the ruins of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Antioch. He was assisted by the Revs. Archimandrite Paulus Ordoluoglu, Patriarchal Vicar, and Fathers Tryphon Yumurta, Cebrail Kusoglu, Dimitri Dogum, Jean Deluler, Musa Papaz, Damian Yakouboglu and Yuhanna Babbasoglu.
In his homily, His Eminence expressed to the faithful the love, prayers and condolences of His Beatitude Patriarch John X. He emphasized Blessed One's words that we are deeply attached to our land. With the support of officials, benefactors and philanthropists, we will rebuild our churches and homes. As children of hope and resurrection, we look to God who rises from the dead, illuminating the darkness of the graves with the light of the Resurrection.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Trisagion prayer was offered for the souls of all those who perished in the earthquake. His Eminence, accompanied by the clergy and faithful, proceeded to the cemetery to offer another Tridentine prayer for the repose of the souls of the departed.
His visit also included an important stop at the historic Church of St. Peter the Apostle, where His Eminence participated in the its inauguration ceremony after extensive renovations, joined by officials.
His Eminence then left Antioch and headed towards Arsuz.
