On February 29, 2024, a winter food and heating point for the homeless in the city of Abakan (Khakassia) completed its work. The warm tent worked every day without weekends since December 11, 2023. During this time, 3,700 meals were prepared by parishioners of the city's churches and other volunteers.
The charitable canteen was open both on New Year's holidays and in severe frosts. People in difficult life situations had an opportunity not only to get hot meals, but also to get warm. People in need could also get clothes, shoes and other help from volunteers and restore their documents. On average, 25 people a day came to the tent.
According to the website of the Abakan Diocese, the social canteen has been organized in the capital of Khakassia every winter for more than fifteen years. "Camping kitchen" was created on the initiative of the diocese and the administration of the city of Abakan, with the participation of the regional Ministry of Labor and Employment, other state and municipal institutions.
