Today the Church celebrates the memory of St. Queen Theodora.
Hosea Theodora was the daughter of Ioannis, ruler of Thessalonica, during the reign of Emperor Alexios Komnenos. At a young age, she took Michael Dukas, later ruler of Epirus, as her husband. However, despite her honors and positions, she remained modest and cared for the poor and weak.
But a great trial awaited her when her husband became engaged to another woman. The saint showed her spiritual greatness and with her fervent prayer managed to bring her husband back to the path of God. Repenting now, he asked for forgiveness, and they lived together in the spirit of God. After his death, the saint withdrew to the monastery of St. George, which she herself had built, and lived an ascetic life until the day of her last sleep.
The key to everything that happens humanly in this world is repentance and returning to the infinite love of Christ, remaining devoted to the Crucified and risen Jesus Christ, with humility and faith, doing the will of God.
