The day of the transfer of the relics of St. Nicholas from Myra of Lycia to Bari is one of three feasts celebrated in the parish of St. Trinity Church in Hajnówka.

On May 21-22, 2024, the Christmas celebrations in Hajnówka were presided over by His Excellency His Eminence Paul, Bishop of Hajnówka. On the eve of the feast, His Excellency, assisted by the clergy of the Hajnówka and Siemiatycki boroughs, celebrated an all-night vigil.


On the day of the feast, before the main feast began. During the liturgy, Bishop Paul was greeted by local authorities and representatives of the local branch of the Brotherhood of St. Cyril and Methodius, youth, children and the parish council. Before the beginning of the liturgy, His Excellency Bishop Paul presented a lectoral chiropody to Ivo Ciunchik, a student of the Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw, who is involved in the life of the parish council.


At the Little Entrance, Bishop Paul awarded the vicar of the parish, St. John the Baptist, the right to wear the mitre. St. John the Baptist, Fr. Fr. Jerzy Ignatowicz. The awarded priest, after reading a fragment of the Christmas Gospel, addressed the many faithful gathered. He recalled the life of St. Nicholas, emphasizing the zealous faith of the saint and his extraordinary devotion to pastoral ministry. He pointed to him as a role model not only for the for the clergy, but also for all believers. St. Nicholas knew perfectly well what is most valuable in human life. Therefore, he devoted himself completely to the service of God and people. Not caring about worldly goods, he devoted his life to the accumulation of spiritual riches...

The culmination of the Christmas celebrations was the procession, after which Bishop Paul thanked those gathered for the common prayer, conveying the words of Christmas greetings and the archpastoral blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Savva. His Excellency wished the clergy and faithful abundant grace of God and the constant protection of St.. Nicholas.
