Today we honor the memory of St. Gerasimos of Jordan, St. Acacius, and St. Gregory, Bishop of Cyprus.
St. Gerasimos was born of pious parents in Lycia around the 7th century AD. He was drawn into the heresy of Monophysitism, i.e., the exaggeration of the Divine over the human nature of the God-man Jesus Christ. Having a good conscience and humble disposition, during his visits to the great ascetics and scholars he realized his deviation and with repentance returned to the correct faith and the tradition of the Church.
The ascetic Gerasimos the Jordanite was characterized by a strict spiritual path. He founded a friendly brotherhood near Jordan, which has survived to this day.
