From July 9 to July 15, 2024 on the shore of the Mariinsk Reservoir in the Sverdlovsk region took place the annual International Sobriety and Health Rally «Ural-2024». This year 570 people from 32 cities of Russia gathered in the village of Mariinsk — priests who work to promote sobriety, families who lead a sober lifestyle, activists of the sober movement and families who wanted to join this movement.
The project is realized by the public-state movement «Trusteeship for People's Sobriety», created by Ekaterinburg Metropolis and the regional government.
Metropolitan Evgeny of Ekaterinburg and Verkhotursk opened the meeting and performed a prayer service for the beginning of a good deed.

The lectures were delivered by Archpriest Igor Bachinin, chairman of the St. John the Baptist Brotherhood «Sobering» Yekaterinburg, Archpriest Igor Bachinin, chairman of the department for supervision of sobering activities Sergiev-Posad Diocese, Archpriest Ilia Shugaev, professor St. Petersburg Theological Academy, Archpriest Ilya Shugaev, professor St. Academy and the Associated Church Postgraduate School and Doctoral School, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Human Philosophy of the Russian Christian Humanitarian Academy of St. Petersburg Archpriest Grigory Grigoriev, rector of the church in the name of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God on the Seven Keys of Yekaterinburg Archpriest Andrey Kanev, senior lecturer and clergyman of the Yekaterinburg Theological Seminary Priest Konstantin Korepanov.
The head of the Coordination Center for Counteracting Alcoholism and Promoting Sobriety Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service Valery Doronkin, who conducted interactive group sessions in the format of a psychological workshop, also took part in the event. During the sessions, the participants practiced skills of proper communication in a family with an addicted person. They also tried to find the reason why a person hurts loved ones and destroys his or her life, discussed how to treat sudden changes in behavior and mood of an addicted loved one.
Sports competitions, master classes, excursions, songwriting festival, creative meetings were also held during the event.
The meeting ended with Sunday Divine Liturgy, after which the where a prayer service was held to take a vow of sobriety. 13 people made a promise to God to live sober, reports Diaconia.ru.
