Omsk diocese donated humanitarian aid to the flood-stricken region

Омская епархия передала в пострадавший от наводнения район гуманитарную помощь

Secretary of the Omsk Diocese, head of the diocesan department for social ministry Archpriest Oleg Tsvetkov visited the Ust-Ishimsky district of the Omsk region. This is where the villages and hamlets most affected by the recent flooding are located. Father Oleg delivered 3 tons of humanitarian cargo to the affected area. These are 500 food packages, basic necessities and 10 diesel-powered heat guns so that the residents could dry their houses. The guns were purchased at the expense of the Omsk Diocese. Fr. Oleg handed them over to representatives of the administration of the Ust-Ishim district.

«Many residents of Ust-Ishimsky district still have not returned to their homes. Some have been evacuated to Omsk, others live with relatives. The water has already gone, but the houses now need to be dried and repaired," said Father Oleg Tsvetkov.

The priest also delivered to the district center canned meat and fish, condensed milk, cereal, pasta, hygiene products, household chemicals, new bedding and 500 ready-made food kits. All this was donated by Orthodox Omsk people for the residents of the flood-hit Ust-Ishimsky district.

«The center of distribution of humanitarian aid became the church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Here we delivered our cargo, the rescuers helped us unload the car. The rector of the church, Priest Vladimir Mikhailov, warned the parishes of the Ust-Ishim district that humanitarian aid would be brought on a certain day. The morning after my arrival the distribution was already in full swing. In one day everything was distributed», — added Father Oleg Tsvetkov.

.

The Synodal Department for Charity earlier transferred 1.3 million rubles to help flood victims — one million rubles to the Omsk diocese and 300 thousand to the Tarsk diocese. The funds will be used to provide targeted assistance to the victims.
