About a thousand people in Malawi received Holy Baptism

On April 11, 2024, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa Metropolitan Constantine of Zarai celebrated the sacrament of Baptism at the parish of St. Cyril in Nambazo village (Falombe County), on April 12 - at the parish of St. Anthony in Chikwawa County, on April 13 - at the parishes of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Mulanje village and St. John the Baptist in Milepe village, reports Patriarchy.ru.

The Archbishop was served by the chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest George Maximov and clerics of the exarchate in Malawi.


On the same days, with the blessing of Metropolitan Constantine, Priest George Maximov and local clergy celebrated Baptism at the parishes of St. Luke the Apostle in Chiradzulu District, St. Basil the Great in Migovi village and St. Peter and Paul in Makandi village.


The newly baptized were given crosses, icons to arrange a red corner in the house, as well as an Orthodox Catechism in the Chichev language published specially for this trip.

The baptism was preceded by preparation at the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Malawi under the guidance of local clerics and catechists. In total, about 1000 Malawians were baptized.



On April 12, Metropolitan Constantine of Zaraisk visited the parish in honor of the Apostles Peter and Paul in the village of Makandi (Tayolo District) in Malawi. The bishop was accompanied by Priest George Maximov and personal secretary V.V. Dendyuk.

Vladyka was welcomed by the rector of the parish Priest Ermolai Mwananchi and the faithful of the community.


Metropolitan Constantine celebrated a prayer service to the First Apostles, after which he addressed the parishioners with an archpastoral word.
