In his welcoming speech, the head of the Kursk Metropolitan Church spoke about the organization of the work of the center for collecting and selling humanitarian aid to residents of border areas of Kursk region.

«On the eve of the celebration of the icon of the Mother of God Kazanskaya, the Day of National Unity, I want to thank everyone for the great joint work done, for the heartfelt impulse shown by you from the first days of our common misfortune, when the enemy troops crossed the state border and entered the Sujansky district. Residents from the border area immediately began to evacuate to Kursk. It became necessary to organize the work of the humanitarian point on Tuskarnaya Street,1, at the youth department of the diocese» — said, in particular, the bishop.

In the first days of work of the point in the group of volunteers included more than 500 people — youth activists of Kursk, representatives of various enterprises and public organizations, individual entrepreneurs. Daily Volunteers unloaded vehicles with basic necessities, packed food packages, processed refugee applications and distributed humanitarian aid to families in accordance with their applications. A total of 730 tons of humanitarian goods were accepted and distributed. More than 30,000 people received aid during the month.

The organizers and coordinators of the humanitarian point were the head of the youth department of Kursk diocese Priest Vladimir Shilin, teachers of the Kursk State University A.A. Teplyakova and E.S. Galutskikh.

In September, the center on Tuskarnaya Street began working in a new format — as a warehouse. Distribution of food and things began to be carried out at the Holy Trinity Convent (13 Gorky St.) in the Center of complex humanitarian aid, which opened on August 16, 2024 with the support of Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service. N.V. Strelkova was appointed the head of the Center. In addition to local volunteers to work in the Center, the Synodal Department sent 57 volunteers from other cities, who work according to the schedule of visits.

In the Center of complex humanitarian aid of the Kursk diocese, according to the created electronic base, help is received from 700 to 1000 people every day. In total, more than 58,000 people have received humanitarian aid during the period of the Center's work (as of October 29). In addition to food, hygiene kits and bedding, volunteers provide information and psychological assistance to those in need. Assistance is provided to disabled and low-income citizens in purchasing medicines and medical equipment.
