On July 23, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin the Rev. Cyprian Ion Lonitae, responsible for the social department of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and Rev. George Lepadatu, responsible for the financial department, accompanied by His Eminence Fr. Bishop Hakobyan of Tatev.
Presenting the Catholicos of All Armenians, Archbishop Tatev informed the guests that the representatives of the Romanian Church came to Armenia to get acquainted with the problems faced by the Armenians of Artsakh, their social situation and, as a result of assessing their needs, to develop support programs. this will be implemented jointly with the Romanian Church.
Welcoming the guests, the Patriarch of All Armenians conveyed his fraternal love and gratitude to Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church and expressed his gratitude to the Romanian authorities for supporting Armenia and the Armenians of Artsakh. His Eminence noted that this initiative is another testimony of the centuries-old friendship established between the Armenian and Romanian peoples and churches. In this regard, the Armenian Patriarch noted with satisfaction that the Romanian-Armenian community plays an important role in the foundation of the close relations between the two countries, which actively participates in the process of the development of life in the two countries Romania.
In his turn, Priest Cyprian, conveying the greetings of the Patriarch of the Roman Orthodox Church Daniel to the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, emphasized that in cooperation with the Social Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, efforts will be made to improve the social situation of the depatriated Armenians of Artsakh and overcome the existing problems.
