His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Mr.. Porfirije received Mrs. Milica Djurdjevic Stamenkovski, Minister of Family and Demography, at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade on July 22, 2024.
During the conversation, Minister Đurđević Stamenkovski familiarized Patriarch Porfirije with the activities of the Ministry of Family and Demography and plans related to the promotion and improvement of the quality of family life and the positive development of the demographic picture in the Republic of Serbia. The main topic of the meeting was the initiative of the Ministry, which, in agreement with the President of the Republic of Serbia, envisages the amendment of the Law on Financial Support for Families with Children in order to increase the financial allocation of the state for parental allowance, which will be, according to the new law, 500 thousand dinars for the first-born child and 600 thousand dinars for the second child.
His Holiness welcomed with great approval the presented draft law, emphasizing the importance of preserving the family as the domestic Church and the basic unit of any society.
The reception was attended by His Eminence Metropolitan of Dalmatia Mr. Nikodim; Mrs. Sanja Lakic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Family and Demography; and Archpriest Djordje Stojisavljevic, Head of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch.
