On the evening of January 5, 2024, an icon of the Holy Trinity, painted by the Venerable Andrei Rublev, was brought to the Cathedral Church of Christ the Savior in Moscow, Patriarchy.ru reports.
The image of the Holy Trinity was delivered from the All-Russian Art Research and Restoration Center named after Academician I.E. Grabar, where it was under scientific supervision in a special climate-controlled room.
During the transfer the icon was accompanied by the director of the All-Russian Art Research and Restoration Center named after Academician I.E. Grabar D.L. Sergeev, the chief curator of the State Tretyakov Gallery T.S. Gorodkova, the clergyman of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior Archpriest Georgy Martynov.
With the blessing of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, the great relic was welcomed in Christ the Savior Cathedral by: Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresensk, Administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate, First Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia for the City of Moscow; Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov, Vicar of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra; Hegumen Xenia (Chernega), Head of the Legal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate; and the clergy of Christ the Savior Cathedral.
The image of the Holy Trinity was placed in a special casket and installed at the right choir of the church.
Metropolitan Gregory with Bishop Kirill, Archpriest George Martynov and Archpriest Andrei Maruschak celebrated a prayer service in front of the image of the Holy Trinity.
The Chamber Choir of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior under the direction of S.S. Sidorenko performed liturgical hymns.
During the days of the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, the famous image will be in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, where His Holiness Patriarch Kirill will perform festive divine services.
