His Beatitude Patriarch John X celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Ignatius of Antioch in Al-Malikia with the participation of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, His Eminence, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, representing His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, Archpriest Nicholas Balashov, Archimandrite Philip, representing the Russian Patriarch to the Patriarch of Antioch, Bishops Roman (Al-Hannat), Moussa (Al-Khouri) and Ioannis (Batah) as well as many priests and deacons.
The Liturgy was also attended by His Excellency Alexander Efimov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Syria.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude welcomed the participating delegation and emphasized the depth of the historical ties between the Antiochian and Russian Churches.
For his part, Metropolitan Anthony expressed his warmth at this meeting and conveyed the prayers and blessings of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill to His Beatitude and the people of Antioch. He thanked His Beatitude for his hospitality.
His Beatitude then met with the Russian delegation and part of the Russian community of Syria living in Damascus and Latakia.
