On April 4, 2024, with the blessing of Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Starooskolsk, the brethren of the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow donated to the Belgorod Metropolitanate copies of a 14th century Serbian fresco depicting the Second Coming of Christ and the Last Judgment for prayer needs and missionary purposes.
Hieromonk Ignatius (Shestakov) presented the copies to the secretary of the diocesan bishop, Priest Alexander Fokin, in the office of the Rector of the Belgorod Seminary, Archpriest Alexei Kurenkov, who took a special part in this good deed.
The copy of the mural was made by the Sretensky Monastery with the support of the ABS Electro Charitable Foundation on a 2 x 1.5 m banner fabric and is intended for mobile churches and prayer places in hospitals, hospitals, military units, educational institutions and other public places.
The original fresco is located in the Ascension Cathedral of the medieval monastery of Visoki Dečani, located in Metohija in southern Serbia.
Previously, the shrine was donated to the hospital church of Apprs. Peter and Paul at the Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital, the Chapel of the Prophet Elijah at the headquarters of the Russian Armed Forces, and to the clergy in Donbas and Novorossiya.
In total, the Sretensky Monastery of Belgorod has so far provided 15 copies of frescoes to the Belgorod Metropolis, some of which have already found their way into mobile and field churches.
