On April 10, 2024, the Journal No. 39 of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church was approved remotely, Patriarchy.ru reports.
Members of the Synod, having considered the issue of the state of affairs in the Dormition Pskov-Pechersk Monastery, decided to release Metropolitan Arseny of Pskov and Porkhov from the position of priest-archimandrite and hegumen of the Pskov-Pechersk Monastery.
Archbishop Matthew of Egorievsk was appointed Vicar of the Pskov Diocese with the title of "Pechersk", and he was relieved of the administration of the Northern, North-Eastern and South-Eastern Vicariates of Moscow, expressing gratitude to him for his labors.
By decision of the Synod, Archbishop Matthew of Pechersk, Vicar of the Pskov Diocese, is appointed to the position of Abbot of the Assumption Pskov-Pechersk Monastery. He is entrusted with the management and supervision of repair and restoration work at this monastery, as well as restoration and educational projects of the Pskov Diocese.
