Ksenia Petersburgskaya street may appear in the northern capital

В северной столице может появиться улица Ксении Петербургской

According to 'Fontanka', parishioners of the St. Petersburg church in the name of Blessed Xenia on Lakhtinskaya Street want to change its name to something else - in the name of their heavenly patroness. The petition, which the believers plan to send to the administration of the northern capital, was signed by more than four hundred people in the very first days - and the number of supporters of the renaming is growing every day.

In the eighteenth century, during the earthly life of the revered saint, the street was called Petrova - in honor of Colonel Andrei Petrov, who owned one of the houses on it. After the death of the colonel, his widow Xenia took upon herself the feat of foolishness and performed many godly deeds. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the street turned into Petrovskaya - and Lakhtinskaya it became known in 1877, in honor of the village of Lakhta, which later entered the city limits of St. Petersburg.
