In the Main Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, an icon of the Holy Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John, the patron saint of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, was consecrated. The event was attended by the leadership, military personnel and veterans of the department.
The Holy Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John was appointed as the heavenly patron of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
“We petitioned Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to bless us with our heavenly patron. Why John the Baptist? Probably, the determining factor here is that his very life path is an example, his mentality, his activities. It is also important that he stood at the origins, he is the baptist, the person who indicated the direction of development in the future. The activities of our officers allow us to foresee the possible development of events and often many of our proposals form the basis of decisions that are made by our leadership. There is also a certain symbolism in this, ”said Colonel-General Sergei Rudskoy, head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, during the consecration of the icon of the Holy Prophet Forerunner John the Baptist.
