Archaeologists excavating in Jerusalem have found ritual baths, which, according to preliminary estimates, were built at the beginning of the first century AD - during the years of the earthly life of the Lord Jesus Christ. Together, the baths form a mikvah - a bath in which a Jew is obliged to bathe before performing a prayer. Гефсиманский сад в наши дни The bath was discovered in the Garden of Gethsemane, where the Savior prayed before being betrayed by Judas and taken into custody. The head of the group of archaeologists, Amin Remy, suggested that the mikvah was used by workers who were engaged in winemaking or olive oil production in the area. In addition to the ritual bath, the researchers made another find in Gethsemane dating back to a later time. These are the remains of a once ornate Byzantine church from the 5th or 6th century.
