Under construction in the Brazilian city of Encantado, the statue of Christ the Patron is supposed to rise above the world famous statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.
The arms and head of the 43-meter statue were installed last week. The arms span is 36 meters, and an observation deck will be installed at chest level (40 meters in height), where tourists will be delivered by an elevator. The monument will become the third tallest statue of Jesus in the world, only monuments in Indonesia (52.55 meters) and Poland (52.5 meters) will be higher than it.
Construction of the statue began in 2019 at the suggestion of local politician Adroaldo Conzatti, who died in March from coronavirus. The project, estimated at $ 350 thousand (more than 27 million rubles), is planned to be completed by the end of the year. The statue is being erected with the support of the Association of Friends of Christ. The money for the construction was collected through donations.
