A monument to the Monk Seraphim of Sarov was erected in Rostov-on-Don

В Ростове-на-Дону установили памятник преподобному Серафиму Саровскому
On August 1, on the day of commemoration of the Monk Seraphim of Sarov, wonderworker of All Russia, a monument was erected in Rostov-on-Don to one of the most revered Russian saints in the entire Orthodox world - the Monk Seraphim of Sarov. The sculptural image has found its place on the street of the Portovaya Zheleznodorozhny district of the city, on the territory of the temple consecrated in the name of the Monk Seraphim.

The author of the monument made of metal is sculptor Sergei Isakov. The Monk Seraphim sits, surrounded by wild animals: next to him is a bear, on his knees is a squirrel, in the palm of the saint there are birds, and at his feet is a hedgehog. The life of the saint tells that the Diveyevo ascetic reached such a high state of prayer that the forest animals not only did not fear him, but also understood and unquestioningly fulfilled what he said to the monk.

The opening of the monument was timed to the patronal holiday of one of the oldest churches in the Don capital. On the eve of the patronal day, an icon with a particle of the relics of the Monk Seraphim of Sarov was transferred to the church. And on August 1, in a church overflowing with believers, the ruling bishop of the Don Metropolitanate, Metropolitan of Rostov and Novocherkassk Mercury celebrated the Divine Liturgy.
