An underground church was consecrated at the Cricova Wine Factory, which has the second largest wine cellars in Moldova. According to Interfax Religion, the rite of consecration was performed in the underground church by the Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova Vladimir.
Despite the fact that the temple is located on the territory of the enterprise, its visit will be available both for local believers and for pilgrims visiting Moldova. The modern underground church itself is a rare phenomenon, and the one that opened at the Cricova Wine Factory is without exaggeration unique. Wine cellars of Cricova are a labyrinth, the passages of which stretch underground for one hundred and twenty kilometers. From the fifteenth century, limestone mining began in this place for the purpose of urban planning, which lasted hundreds of years - and from century to century, the tunnels underground became more and more lengthy, forming a complex structure. In the middle of the last century, the Cricova dungeons were reorganized into an underground shopping center for the sale of wines of different varieties and harvests - it occupied about half of the labyrinth. The streets of the underground city are named after the famous wines of Moldova; there are trading and tasting rooms, warehouses and premises for other purposes. In total, about 1,250,000 bottles of wines, both rare and popular, are collected in the Cricova cellars. The oldest of them dates back to 1902. The optimum temperature for storing wine is + 12 ° C is maintained in the Cricova cellars all year round.
