Residents of the settlement of Seliyarovo, in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, posted on social networks an appeal to find a priest to perform regular services in a local church. According to the Russian news agency URA.RU, the corresponding text appeared in several regional pubs at once. In a village inhabited mainly by oil workers, a clergyman is an infrequent visitor, who comes here on average once a month. “There are many who would like to confess. In addition, our village is located in the center of the Ob field. Oil workers also want to maintain spiritual life, ”the text of the open appeal says. Local residents are ready to offer the future abbot housing - half of the house, the other half of which is occupied by a parish school - as well as a vegetable garden. This information was confirmed by the head of the Seliyarovo administration, Alexander Yudin. The Diocesan Administration of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug is aware of the situation in the village - however, at the moment it does not have the candidacy necessary for the residents of Seliyarovo. For this reason, Orthodox believers are still being cared for by a priest who comes from another settlement - Lyantor. In the future, the problem is supposed to be solved by sending a graduate of the theological seminary to Seliyarovo, of course, when such a one appears in the diocese.
