From Mark. 8: 11-21
The Pharisees went out, began to argue with Him and demanded from Him a sign from heaven, tempting Him.
And He, sighing deeply, said: why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.
And leaving them, he again entered the boat and set off to the other side.
At the same time, His disciples forgot to take bread, and they did not have bread with them in the boat besides one bread.
And He commanded them, saying: Look, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.
And, arguing among themselves, they said: this means that we have no bread.
Jesus, understanding, saith to them: Why do you reason that you have no bread? Do you not yet understand and understand? Is your heart still petrified?
Having eyes, don't you see? having ears, do not you hear? and don't you remember?
When I broke the five loaves for five thousand people, how many baskets full did you take of the pieces? They say to him: twelve.
And when seven for four thousand, how many baskets did you collect the remaining pieces. They said seven.
And he said to them: How then do you not understand?

Interpretation of a group of verses: Mark: 8: 11-11
Meeting him by the Pharisees and Sadducees
As soon as Jesus came ashore, they immediately approached Him, obviously expecting His and the deliberately assembled Pharisees and Sadducees. These two sects have always been at enmity with each other, but in their plans against Jesus they acted unanimously.
Having accurate information about all the miracles performed by Jesus, but attributing them to the devil's power, the Pharisees and Sadducees began to argue with Him and demanded that He show them a sign from God from heaven. This requirement was explained, as it were, by their desire to believe in Jesus, if God Himself, by a sign from heaven, would confirm to them that Jesus is indeed the Messiah.
In fact, they were hypocritical: they were sure that Jesus, for the sake of satisfying their curiosity, would not give them any sign from heaven now, as he had not given them before, and this, in their opinion, would give them a reason to divulge among the people, that Jesus, unable to give a sign from heaven, cannot be recognized as the Messiah; and therefore they insisted on their request.
