The church of St. Bartholomew in Granada, built in the 16th century, was handed over to the local community of Orthodox believers. According to the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate, the ceremony took place last week. The transfer agreement is part of the agreements reached last fall during a meeting between the hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Nestor of Madrid and Lisbon, with the Archbishop of Granada Francisco Javier Martinez Fernandez.
The ceremony began at the end of the service in the church of the Apostle Bartholomew, which was performed by Archbishop Nestor, co-served by the secretary of the diocesan administration, Archpriest Andrei Kordochkin, Archpriest Maxim Prikhodko, Archpriest Mikhail Ustimenko and Deacon Gleb Zaika. During the event, Vladyka Nestor addressed the Archbishop of Granada Francisco Javier Martinez Fernandez with words of deep gratitude for his help in finding a place for prayer for the local parish of the Russian Orthodox Church.
