On October 15, the relics of Grand Duchess Elizaveta Feodorovna Romanova and nun Varvara, who were killed a century ago by servants of godless power and glorified by the Church in 1992 in the rank of Martyrs, arrived at the Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Church (Innokentievsky Skete) of Irkutsk. The shrine will be open for worship of the faithful until October 22.
Relics from the Jerusalem Church of St. Mary Magdalene were brought to Russia as part of the expedition 'The Last Path of the Holy Martyr.' According to her route, the shrines follow from the place of the murder of Saint Elizabeth and her helpers in the same way that her body was taken out of the country a century ago: from the Ural Alapaevsk through Siberia, the Far East and China - to the Holy Land. According to the Baikal 24 news agency, in addition to the icon of the Martyrs Elizabeth and Barbara with particles of their holy relics, the image of the Royal Passion-Bearers with earth was also brought to Irkutsk from Ganina Yama - the place of their death.
