On July 8, when a prayer is heard in the churches of the Russian Orthodox Church in memory of Saints Peter and Fevronia, the Murom miracle workers, Russia celebrates the Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness, which has the status of a public holiday. On this day, at the Nikitsky Church in the city of Kaluga, the exhibition 'Family - Small Church' began its work. Святые Петр и Феврония Муромские чудотворцы The exposition consisted of reproductions, icons and paintings that reveal the theme of marriage - the union of a man and a woman consecrated by the Lord God - as the greatest value. Here you can see reproductions of paintings by B.M. Kustodiev 'On the Terrace', a family portrait of the 'Soler Family' by Pablo Picasso, 'A Wedding Feast in a Boyar Family of the 17th Century' by K.E. Makovsky, 'The Tsar's Family' by Valery Pavlov and many other works. There are also icons of Saints Zechariah and Elizabeth - the parents of the Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John, saints Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom and other pious married couples known thanks to Holy Scripture and Tradition. The exposition was organized with the support of the international competition 'Orthodox Initiative 2020–2021' as part of the project 'Here is the Russian spirit, here it smells of Russia!' Exhibition at the Nikitsky Church will work for exactly one month - until August 8. The entrance to it is free for everyone.
