According to Federal Press, during yesterday's meeting between Patriarch Kirill and Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, the Primate of the Russian Church gave his primate blessing for the construction of a new cathedral on the main square of Vladivostok. During the meeting, the Primorsky Governor noted that in connection with the change in the status of Vladivostok, which recently became the capital of the Far Eastern Federal District, special attention will be paid to the improvement of the vast territory adjacent to the future cathedral. Already this year, a corresponding project will be developed and agreed with the residents of the region, and work will begin next year. Improvement works will also affect the territory of the current Pokrovsky Cathedral. At the end of the meeting, the Governor of Primorye invited Patriarch Kirill to consecrate the new cathedral when it is built.
